Access 2000 Send Object Bug?

By No1Buc ·
This is a question about an Access database. One of my forms uses a 'send object' command that sends an email to a specific person's name that is on the form. The problem is that the form, half the time, will not create the email after the button has been used once. The users have to back out of the database completely and go back in to use the command button a second time. Is this a known bug with the docmd.sendobject command?

Access 2000 Send Object Bug?

by maxwell edison In reply to Access 2000 Send Object B ...

According to Microsoft article Q260819 titled, "SendObject Method Fails in Access 2000", This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions is true:

There are too many characters in the message. This behavior has been documented with messages that contain between 98 and 2268 characters.

-or-

The SendObject method runs more than one time in a procedure.

Use one of the following workarounds to resolve this problem:

Reduce the message length.

NOTE: This resolution works only for the first condition described in the "Cause" section. The remaining resolutions will work for either condition described in the "Cause" section.

When you only need to send a message without attaching Access objects, send the message by automating the Outlook or Collaborative Data Objects (CDO) object libraries.

For additional information about sending a message using the Microsoft Outlook object library, click the article number below to view the article in the MicrosoftKnowledge Base:

Q161088 Using Automation to Send a Microsoft Outlook Message.

When you need to attach Microsoft Access objects to a message, use the following sample VBA procedure to work around the problem.
