If you recently upgraded from another version of Windows on your desktop, I suspect the 'license' was not properly updated by the install process.

Given that other components of Access may also have failed to update, I'd Uninstall Access from thedesktop and re-install it from the CD. That should slove your problem.

MS has a KB article about this problem with Access and W2K. It involves a little registry edit, so I won't quote it here.

My guess is you want to run some old 97 files from access 2000 you can save as 97 from 2000 after you have converted the database to 2K

There is a patch available to use 97 but you have to uninstall access 2000 and reinstall 97 then reinstall 2000 keeping the old files
