Access 97 on WinXp

By gary5500 ·
I have a program (that uses the runtime version of Access 97) on Win XP. While this program is running, the taskmanger shows that msaccess.exe keeps the CPU usage at 99%. However my system is not bogged down at all. This program does have 4 hidden forms, So I am wondering if XP gives it all resources unless another app needs them? Any Ideas?

XP is not known to be very resourcefull but 99% sounds a little busy. I think your system may be having problems switching between apps.

You can try a memory manager, to help free up the memory for use and this may reduce the CPU usage. Almost like refreshing it.

Here's some demos you can at lest try out:

WinTasks Professional 4.15 (Helps manage all running processes)

MemTurbo 2.1 Very popular memory manager, you can use a keystroke to free memory from background tasks.

Also you might want to run a program such as ADAWARE that removes the spyware an ad services installed while on the net. These will often run continuously in the background and suck up you processor even if you're not online.

ADAWARE: (A Freebie must have if you're on the net!)
