Access a HDD password protected drive in windows

by mattm . Updated 17 years, 2 months ago

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 Notebook and the motherboard just kicked the bucket (it’s only 3 months old) so i sent it in for the MB to be replaced.

I have some documents on the hard drive that I need to access urgently, so i kept the hard drive as I have an external caddy.

My problem is that I have an HDD password on the disk. When i connect the caddy to my desktop it recognises the drive but it is unreadable and does not appear in my computer.

I know the password but i dont know how to put the password in and access the drive. I know there are some programs that remove passwords from drives but i don’t want to modify the drive in any way as it may not work when i get the notebook back.

Does anyone know how to access a HDD password protected drive from windows???
