Access a WinNT4 PDC on another Domain

By dthirlway ·
I have installed a new server on a network and created a new domain (Administration), it is running Win2K as an Active Directory Server. I need to copy data from the old server which a NT4 PDC and is on its on Domain (Admin). The problem I have is that both server can ping each and other but can not brows each and other. E.G if I go \\192.168.1.2\ share name\ I get a responce saying that it doesnt exsit. I need to be able to have these two machines talk to one and other. Is this a trust relationship issue. Can some one help. Thanks.....

it usually is a trust relationship problem.
FYI. You can't talk with Nt4 if your W2k already change to native mode.

You can setup a one way trust even with your active directory domain running in native mode. Once you have established the trust you'll be able to add accounts from your active directory domain to the NT 4 domain.

You do need a trust relationship between the two domains and you will also either need WINS entries for the DC's or edit the LMHost file on the PDC and the DC's in your AD domain.
