Access DB Security

By steve ·
I re-installed my OS (XP Pro) and can no longer open my database file in access 2002. This is the error message.

You do not have the necessary permissions to use the <name> object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you. (Error 3033)

If you

by cmiller5400 In reply to Access DB Security

If you did a complete reinstall and wiped the partition, any data on it is gone... If you just did an in place install (did not delete the partitions), you will need to take ownership of the files, then change the security of them. (EDIT: I hope you did not use EFS to encrypt them with out backing up your private key...)

Can't open an access DB

by steve In reply to If you

The database was stored on a network drive when I re-installed the OS. It was not encrypted or password protected. I can't open the DB to edit security settings. still getting the same error. "You do not have the necessary permissions to use the <name> object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you. (Error 3033)"
Any ideas?
