Access Denied

By computer_excel ·
My client have 3 notebooks connected together in network using peer to peer under Windows XP Pro, SP1. All notebooks local drives are shareable. All users have administrator right. Two notebooks can access all files and folders except Program Files Folder on the 3rd notebook. Both notebooks get exact same error message "ACCESS DENIED" when trying to access Program Files folder on 3rd noteboook.

What I need to do to get through Program Files Folder?

On 3rd notebook under my computer verify that the properties of program files folder under sharing that make this folder private is not checked. Also under network sharing and security "share this folder on the network" is checked.

ok,
first thing first. data has to be shared not program folders, not whole harddisk, if you encounter a network virus, or someone is snooping on the network (including internet) thats asking for trouble.

on that particular machine, the security settings are different then the others, apperently the administrator accounts on that folder have been removed ro explicity denied. You need to re-apply the permissions back on the folder and subfolders with the accounts that you want.
