You can not do that and expect it to work

An account that is created called "administrator" != Actual Administrator account. The user name is only for our benefit, not the computers; the computer actually uses what is called a SID to identify accounts.

Say you delete an account called Harry and then recreate it with the same name, (old) Harry != (new) Harry, it has a new SID.

'Administrator' (unless Vista has screwed this up too!) is NOT VISIBLE or usable unless you boot into Safe Mode.

When you reach the login screen while in Safe Mode, if you have the Welcome screen active, Administrator will appear as a new option.

If the Welcome screen is disabled you just type Administrator into the login box for the user name.

Administrator Account

by Nimmo In reply to Access Denied to Vista Ad ...

The administrator account in Vista is disabled by default so the only way you can log in as the administrator is if you have enabled the account which if your account is a member of the administrator's group you will be able to enable.

When you enable the account login as the administrator and check/change any permissions that are effecting your access when you are using your other account.

Create a non administrator account for yourself

always logon using this account, when UAC wants an admin password to allow an action it will ask you and 'voila'.
