3 computers, dsl modem, lynxys router.
Systems are
1. XP Home (NTFS)
2. XP Home (NTFS)
3. ME (FAT32)
1 can access files in 2 and 3
2 can access 3 only
3 can access 2 only
Printer is attached to 1, so I cannot share it on the network. All access
the web great. Network wizzard/disk has been run on all systems as “all
computers connect to the internet independently;” all clients, protocols and
services are apparently correct. Windows trouble shooter did not help. Login
names are the same in all, and there is no password (attempted with
passwords and did not help) When I attempt to access computer 1 from 2 or 3
I get the following error message: “\\computername is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resourse. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at
this computer.”
Incidentally, I do see computer 1 in my network places under workgroup computers in 2 and 3, but cannot enter it.
Firewalls are disabled.
I wonder if my windows XP program is corrupt. I already had one other problem in which no matter what, the email program would always be hotmail.
I changed it in internet options to outlook express, but it did not work. even though on review, outlook express would be listed under programs in internet options. I had to search the registry and chage the default to outlook express and that finally did it. My other XP computer did not have that problem (the good computer). So I keep thinking the firewall is not
truly disabled even though it appears so in network connection properties. I couldn’t find the relevant key in the registry to disable it there. Please help.
