Access2k Clients

By satsua ·
We have a new MySQL backend that we migrated
to and retain Access2K as our client side.
Right now I am looking at twenty units running
the client locally and from time to time minor
adjustments are needed to some forms or reports.

Instead of using the export feature in Access
or just copying over a whole modified front-end
for just a couple of forms, what tools can
anyone point me to that will allow me to update
all the front-ends at once instead of one
by one?

Thanks for your answer!

One method I have implemented in the past was to identify the forms clearly with a version number in the general field. At start-up for each form a comparison was made between these numbers and the ones in a (special) back-end at the server with the?mother? forms, resulting in a deletion of the existing form and importing the new one. The replacement is done only if a newer version is available in the back-end.
However, this process may slow down the initial start-up and especially once a form has to be replaced. On the other hand with some clever VBA coding and a fast network it should not be such a **** of a job, as you hopefully are not amending forms each hour or day. Most users will keep a database open for a longer period anyhow.
Good luck.

I know it has been awhile since you asked your question, however I just saw it. I hope you have found the Replication feature by now. Any Table, Report, Form, Macro, Module, etc.. can be set to replicate. Whenever changes are made to the Master, replication can take place at all replicas.
