Access97 update file, stops w/o warning

I have inherited this problem without any help. I have an Access97 database that is updated daily. It resides on a common Novell netware drive and my ex-boss was trying to schedule it from an NT4 server. He used Scheduler, AT commands, Services and a couple of downloaded programs but it will stop several times a month and I do not know it until someones complains. The engineer that wrote the App has a little file that when run kicks up the Access97 DB and requeries the SQL database to download the next days data.
All suggestions will be appreciated and tried.
