Accessing a protected folder

Here’s the situation:

I have a drive that would not boot to windows xp, it keeps giving me read errors. I took the drive and put it in another PC and put it as a slave so I could back it up.(done that) Now I am able to see my files on the disk and I am trying to access my folder but it wouldn’t let me. It says,” access denied”. Is there any solutions for me to get to my files?
