Accessing a restricted profile from XP Home slaved on a XP Pro unit.

By davestewart.sr ·
I am trying to save personal files for a user with XP Home and her main profile is passworded. I cannot repair the drive and boot from it but I can access all files on it when it is slaved in my XP Pro machine but of course get Access Denied when trying to copy the one profile needed off of the drive. How can I take ownership of the profile folder from the XP home drive from my XP Pro machine?

Access the files with the administrator account and password of the SP Pro system.

I was repairing someone's computer for them and their Windows profiles were password protected. However, I found if I booted off of a LiveCD for Linux Puppy, I was able to access the files.

Simple File sharing. Then you can look at the Security Tab of the drive and take Ownership.
