Accessing a Server From behind firewall

by osamahamzah . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

I work in a university where they have NT domain and An internet connection with Bandwith of 4mbit, but no one can access the internet at faster than 10 kbit/sec!!!!

i have an adsl connection at my home and i can access my home PC ftp’s server and dl/ul at 40k/sec from inside the same university lan!!!.

So i installed a Proxy server at my homes PC and i wanted to access that server at home from my office at work, so i can access the internet through that prosy server at 40k/s!!!.

Now they have a firewall here in which allows the Ports 21,23 and 80 only , so i configured the proxy server to use port 21 at home, but for some reason i cannot access it from work still!!

I am doubting that the Ie5 which i am using , is not using theport 21 to initiate the Connection , i mean if the connection like this :

Workpc:21 <------> Homepc:21

then it should work , but i think it is something like this:

WorkPC:?? <----> homePC:21

so is there any way to change the port which IE5 uses , or is there any other solution!!!
Thanx for Reading.
