Account Issues

By d.jones092 ·
Hello.

Got a user on a Win2k Pro SP4 machine (Gateway PIV, 256mb, etc who cannot login using her account. The following error message is displayed: "Your account is configured to prevent you from using this computer. Please try another computer". I am able to log in using my own account. The problem is definitely machine specific as the user is able to log into different machines using her account. I'm seeing event id 1000 Userenv messages in the event log as far back as Friday.

Her AD account does not restrict her logins at different computers.

VERY puzzling. Any thoughts?

DJ

I would double check group policy. Though AD account might not restrict her, an OU GPO might. GP is processed local, site, domain and OU in that order so somewhere in that series is a policy which resticts her. Note: policies are cumulative and most restrictive applies unless you use the trump cards no override, block inheritence.

Check the Local Security Settings on the PC that she cannot log into. Look in the User Rights Assignment window and make sure that her account is not appearing in the deny access settings.
Hope this helps!
