Account Policies

By d.jones092 ·
Howdy.

If I set domain level account policies on a Win2k server, will those policies work on 98 machines logging into the domain? Or no, because of Active Directory considerations?

Thanks for any info.

From my experience, no down level clients will be able to have group policies applied to them. This means NT4 and Win9x. In addition, Win9x systems will not have a computer account on the domain controller. This means that AD will not be able to apply any policies. You may be able to use Poledit, but this will need to be done on a machine by machine basis.
However, during the login process, if a user has a script applied to their user account, this can apply certain features, but nothing like group policies to a 2000 Pro system.

Hope this helps.
