Well, that wasn't very specific...

First, see if it will post.
Remove all components from the laptop that you can. (CD, HDD, ALL RAM, Anything that connects to the motherboard really except Display, CPU, modem, other items that require extremely invasive removal.)

Turn it on and see if it gives post error for the RAM missing, then test again by replacing each part until it fails again starting with the RAM.

You only need the CPU, 1 stick ram for CPU, and Power to get the system to post. Display helps!! But you want to make sure you don't need a replacement mobo.

You've already confirmed it's not the Power. You haven't identified if it is the display.

It's unfortunate that ACER, Gateway, and EMachines have the same lousy support.(same parent company, Gateway) It could be just a bad motherboard, but you will have to goto and submit a support ticket to have the motherboard replaced.

Not to hard-sell you on Dell but this is the reason I buy Dell portables. The support 24/7 and parts or tech will be available within the the next applicable business day instead of sending the laptop in to their ""Depot"" for repairs. Recommendation... Do not send your hard drive!!! (Some exclusions apply of course depending on the severity of damage.)

You can try cleaning the Airways to the heat Sink for the CPU and the actual Heat Sink as well.

While you're at it make sure that the heat sink is correctly fitted. Also try an external Monitor to see if it's the monitor of the NB breaking down.
