Acer BIOS problem

I just upgraded my AcerPower Sx PIII 800Mhz processor socket 370 to a PIII 866 Mhz.
When i restart my computer after replacing the new processor,the startup displaying this BIOS error message,
0060 CPU BIOS update code mismatch
0006 Equipment configuration error
Press CTRL+Alt+Esc to enter setup or F1 to continue.
If press F1 the sytem just boot into my Windows 98 normally.
My Acer BIOS version 4.40 and SMBBIOS version 2.3
The BIOS detected my new Processor speed.
Please help to solve this error message in the startup.

It sounds like you need to update your bios to runn with your new processor, i would suggest you consult your bios manufacturer and see if there is an update you can download WARNING: FLASHING YOUR BIOS CAN RENDER YOUR SYSTEM INOPERABLE, i suggest you get a qualified tech to do it for you .

check the documentation on the mother board either online or hard copy if you have it. Many times there is a jumper setting that will need changed also.

Based on the info at hand, you may just need to go into the bios and accept the changes. If you bypass that every time, it will start over the next time you reboot.

It is a common problem to VIA chipset (?), whenever your processor is higher than 800Mhz, the BIOS would need to be updated.

It is definitely a BIOS problem. Get your BIOS updated and the problem would disappear.
