Acer Travelmate tablet PC died after USB device connected

My Acer laptop (with Win XP) was hibernating when I connected my NEW digital picture frame through USB to the laptop. Initially, the hard-drive got active and the laptop started waking up. But, all of a sudden, the screen went black and the laptop got silent. Now, the laptop won’t turn on. When the power supply is connected, the “battery charging” indicator is lit up (it’s not lit up after the battery is completely charged), which means the power cable is working and is charging the battery. Holding the power button for a while (hard-reset) doesn’t do anything either. Any ideas? Would connecting the digital frame specifically might have caused something? It hasn’t happened before…I’ve connected USB devices (memory sticks, digital camera, etc) before.
