acoustic problem

By scankirili ·
We are using Intel Pentium D processor 940(dual core). The users complain from the noise which is about 60 decibel. Has anyone had a problem of this type and how did you solve?

I haven't had any problems with these CPU's on a 955 M'Board but what is the noise?

Is it the CPU Fan, A PS FAN or something else?

Recently I found a case fan that was distorting the case and rubbing when screwed in tightly but loosing off one screw slightly cured that problem.

Those CPU's don't make any noise by themselves so do you know what type of noise you are getting?

it's deffinatly a fan... could be the power supply... could be cpu fan... could be chassis fan... make sure that no chords are rubbing against the fan... also... run the computer topless in order to locate the noise... at least doing that will show you where exactly it is comming from... dont be afraid to put your ear in the computer...
