Acrobat 8.1 Problem

Each time I try to import a pdf page into a document, I get “Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.” I have no problems extracting , replacing, deleting pages. I am running XP Professional. Should note that have a 4.0 version on my computer. No problem importing pages. Appreciate any suggestions or help.
