Acrobat Reader Prints Squares not Text

by brian . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

What causes the squares?
How do I fix it?

Here are the details.

All affected machines run Win2000 and the Win2000 version of Acrobat 5.

The layout is fine but instead of printing all of the characters it prints squares in place of the text.

The document looks fine on the screen but prints incorrectly.

I have had this happen when printing to an HP Postscript Laser Printer and also to an HP 832c.

I have had this happen on more than one computer.

In the past I have triedre-installing Acrobat but that didn’t help.

This last case was when printing a PDF of an Excel file. I created the PDF by printing to the PDF Printer installed by (Acrobat version 4).

The Excel file only used the Ariel font. It looked fine on the screen and then printed about half the page correctly before starting in with the squares.
