Active directory

i am using windows 2003 server in my lan almost 30 computers are the memebr of a domain which created in 2003 server and users
so i need to take backup of domain or active directory for the future ,suppose 2003 server got crashed or need to format
please let me know how to backup and how do i recover the backup
