Active Directory

As Network Admin for a small company it appears that we are not able to access the Active Directory and we are using Windows 2000 Advance server.

Is your server running active Directory localy based

Try to ping and traceping the server(by ip) to see if there is physical connectivity. If there is, try using the fqdn to ping, if this fails check DNS. If DNS is good and physical connections are good, if you have physical access to the box, check event logs. Check to see if a firewall is blocking you get access to the machine at all?

Im sorry but your comment/question doesn't make sense.

If your users are logging into the domain, then your accessing Active Directory. If not or are using cache to log in, then they would not have access to network resources. In effect your network is down.
