Active Directory

Dear Folks, I have 6 servers on my network and I installed AD on all of them. But changes doesn’t seem to be replicated/propagated quickly enough between all of them. I was thinking of pulling out AD from 4 of them and leaving it only on two.
I need to know is there any requirement that I must have AD on all the servers?
