Active Directory and NDS

By 3needs ·
My company is currently running NDS and will continue to. We are introducing 3 W2K Servers into our infrastructure which we anticipate using Active Directory. Has anyone ran AD in a NDS network? What problems should I look out for? Any words to the wise on this?

This is not a problem. Novell NDS and Microsoft AD can co-exist on the same network without any problems. There is nothing special that you need to do to "keep them separate". Go ahead and bring up the Active Directory domain. You might want to make sure you have some naming conventions so that if you have to create a user account for the same user in both directories then you know that they have the same exact user name.

You didn't say what version of Netware you are running, but if it's 5.0 or better, good advice would be to convert to pure IP on the network. Otherwise, client performance my suffer.

Also, check out the Synchronicity product form NetVision. It will synchronize user id's and passwords between NDS and AD.
