active directory installation

By chris_surgenor ·
I have installed windows 2000 advanced server. At the configure server screen I am trying to install active directory to promote my standalone server to a domain controller. All runs fine until the wizard reaches the "active directory is installing in unattended mode" screen then a message appears saying "network location cannot be reached". Dns is also setup by the wizard. My network card is installed and configured correctly but there is no cable as this is a standalone server for training purposes. Help?

AD installations requires the NIC have link. You must plug that computer into something that'll give it link, be it an empty hub or whatever.

Also, when you copied and pasted the URL's the guy above gave, you didn't remove the spaces in the URL's that are automatically inserted.
