Active Directory - Network Printers

By Tonywildcat17 ·
I am still learning this Active Directory. I know that I can map drives ,based on the user, by using a login script. I was wondering if there was a way to map a network printer? If not . . . is there a way to keep the printer mapped on a local machine, no matter who on the domain logs onto that machine?

I think that the way to do the second, would be to make the LPTx = the network address, and then setup the printer as a local printer. Just wondering if there is an easier way. Thanks

In our organization (a small 25 node network) we used a script to do it. It's a pretty simple script for printing. Below is a sample of what we used.

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /in /n "\\servername\printername"

Thank you so much. That works perfectly. I had gone to Microsoft's Tech Net and they had a more extensive string, but it would not work. Works Great. Thanks Again
