Active directory Snap in not working

I had added the active directory snap in to my MMC on my work station, but it gives me the error that the domain controlers are not on line.

It would be easier if you posted the exact error message. Otherwise, it would just be a guess.

Is your workstation's primary DNS server the DNS server that is for your Domain Controller(s)? Because either your workstation cannot find the SRV RR DNS records in DNS that points to the DC, or your workstation is NOT a member of the Active Directory-enabled domain.

The error is "Naming information cannot be located because: The Server is not operational. Contact System Administrator to verify that your Domain is properly configures and is online. This error occurs on two workstations.

Is NAT installed on the domain controller? If so, either disable it or install the latest service pack.

The problem was that the workstations did not have the AD DNS server listed
