AD and DNS Domain name

By dborges ·
I'm new to AD and the I have question is, is there a need or benefit to have your AD domain name to be the same as internet domain name?? And if so what are the pro's and con's. Microsoft is very unclear on the issue..Thanks for any help...

Only if you want external access

If you intend to give external access to an internal domain, then use your internet namespace extended by the domain name (e.g. internal.company.com). This prevents DNS headaches later. Otherwise it's a matter of choice.
