Adapted easy cd 5 vs wpi cdrw

By nwparkin ·
I have just installed roxios easy cd creator 5 platinum, i am using a wpi-wearnes cdrw4424 drive. Every time i try to burn, i get a calibration error. What are best cd-r's to use with this drive, and is there any other way of stopping this from happening?

Somewhere in the manual it should say what it supports. I use Kodak or TDK as much as possible. I don't like the 50 / 100 pack cd's too much.
Defrag the harddisk also regularly.
In the error message is says what are the possible causes (at least easy cd 4 does.
Last use a slower recordingspeed till you find the right one for the combination drive/cdr.

hi,
how old is your drive? I had the same problem with a Philips cdrw drive, found the answer on a website hard to believe - the grease lubricating the drive had thickened, making it hard for the head to move. I did what they said (dismantle, clean old grease off, put new grease on!) It was that or buy a new drive. It worked fine then. maybe you should try it!
good luck with it - Paul

You do not say what o/s you are running. If you are running W2K you will have major problems with EZCD 5 Platinum. If you have version 4, I would suggest sticking with it, if running W2K that is.

The other option may be that you are buying no name media. This is a mistake, Spend the extra for quality disks and you should have fewer probs and fewer coasters kicking around.
