    Adapters not binding to DHCP

    Locked

    by przemekf ·

I am a MCSE student and I’m trying to get my NT4 server to dynamic IP’s to my Win2K.
In services my DHCP server is set to auto, set scope limit to my W2K IP address only including subnet mask,duration=1 day, scope options=003 router-IP address Value in Array Editor is the gateway add. This doesn’t seem to work, tried ipconfig /release and it says that “no adapters bound to tcp/ip are enabled to DHCP” ?? I’m using an NDC card.. everything normally works in static settings ! Can anyone help.

I wonder if you have been experimenting with the BINDINGS Tab on the Network Icon, and the TCP/IP binding has been disabled?

Alternatively could you have been experimenting in the Registry, and inadvertently chaged the TCP/IP settings?

You could try the ruthless cure and remove TCP/IP altogether, then re-install it afresh.

mmm well I haven’t experimanted with the servers Bindings or the Reg. I’m going to try to re-install TCP/IP.. its the only option open to me at this point.

The server settings, at first glance, seem to be okay.
On the workstation, the error message indicates that you have not set your card up for DHCP (in other words, it’s not a server error). First, check to see that you have checked the Obtain an IP address automatically on the TCP/IP properties page. If so, and it’s still not working, the easiest approach is usually to remove the TCP/IP protocol, re-boot the machine and then re-install it.

      regards!

well I have done the re-install and to avail, unfortunatly it hasn’t worked.. I have set the client for auto ip pickup but really the server its isin’t sending the IP’s as of yet since it gives me a message says that no NIC’s are enabled for DHCP !?!? so the problem is at the setver I believe, My Rogers@home seems to work fine.
        Thanks though.
