Add or Remove Programs Window

By mike.peck ·
I am in the process of setting up a new XP (SP2 fully patched) PC. I have installed a number of programs (ie Office 2000, Autocad 2002, Google Toolbar, and a number of others). When I open the Add or Remove Programs window in Control Panel and sort by name only 2 programs are shown. If I sort by frequency of use I see them all. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?
Thanks,
Mike

I'd say you have some key missing in the registery. Windows keeps those list in the registery and some programs like bad adware/spyware remove those.

It's not a "real" problem for the PC but if you want to you could recreate the list by reentering the keys in your registery.

Eventually check your spyware/adawre progs to see
if they didn't do it and eventually put those in quarantine.

May also happen if you installed SP2 after installing the programs

The problem was with Autocad. The icon size in the registry was -1. I changed it to 1 and the problem was solved.
Thanks
