add page numbers to a webpage navigation

By jlindemann ·
In DreamweaverMX if you add the ability to show the results from a database you can list (for example) 5 items per page. DreamweaverMX then allows you to place either arrows/text to allow you to continue to the next page of 5 items, and then the next page, and so on. How does a user add Page Numbers as well so that a user will have the ability to move to the next page OR jump to a certain page??
Does anyone have a good\free tool\extension to get that works in ASP?

I am not sure about DreamWeaver but the functionality you want to implement can be done manually using any language (asp, jsp.....).
some simple calculations for the number of links (1,2, 3,4....) will be needed for the client page and at the server side some cursor in database can be used to get the specific set of data...
