Hi there

You have really asked three questions in one here so I'll try and tackle each one individually...

1. If you don't want to see the Micrsoft updates in you add/remove program list, you only need to uncheck the box at the top of the screen labelled "Show Updates"

2. You can find a list of all processes by using Task Manager...right click on task bar and choose from the displayed menu.

3. There isn't really a list of processes that should be running as each PC will have different software, AV etc that will all add to this list.

Hope all of this helps

Gary

In addition to the first answer, please DO NOT delete any MS hotfixes/updates or other program updates.

As the others have said you Should Not remove any Patches or Hot Fixes from Windows if it's at all possible. They are there for a reason to try to plug some of the holes in all MS products particularly Windows and Office.

If you remove these you will be making your computer susceptible to attack that it should not be susceptible to as every time MS releases a Patch they also release a listing of what that Patch covers so that the Script Kiddies know immediately if not sooner how to write something to attack un-patched systems.

Can you remove them Yes but it's isn't a wise idea and if you have Auto Update turned on all that will happen is that it will just download them again and install them ASAP or at the very least keep throwing up messages that there are new Updates Ready to Install.

You should also Visit the MS Office Update site as well because currently the Auto Update Function only updates Windows and not Office so you could have major holes in your system where Macro Viruses or other malware can attack your system.

If you are running low on HDD space you could always compress your existing drive.
