Adding a computer to a domain

I receive this error when trying to add a Windows 2000 workstation to an NT 4.0 domain.
"The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credential"
Please help.
I have tried to create teh computer sccout first and that does not seem to help.

Should be an easy one I hope. Right-click MY COMPUTER and disconnect any network drives attached. I had to do this same thing before. An earlier drive mapping/credentials is conflicting. Hope this helps!

From Server manager remove the name of the computer.
Logon on computer with local admin and in network properties remove it from domain (set as member of workgroup).
Reboot computer.
Network properties: set as member of domain and give admin domain account and password for add computer to domain.
Reboot computer.
