You need to open the PC case.

Touch the metal shielding around the outside of the case to eliminate static.

Set the jumpers on the back of the hard drive to slave.

Mount the new hard drive in an open drive bay using the screws provided.

Attach the power connector.

Attach the IDE cable (the one on your existing hard drive should have an extra connector). Make sure the red line on the cable is towards pin 1 (usually towards the power connector).

When you boot, go into BIOS andchange the setting of the primary slave to "auto" this should allow the PC to detect the drive.

If the PC detects the drive, you should see an icon windows too.

just pop open the case, jumper the hard drive as either master or slave depending on if you have an open ide slot or not, put the drive in the right bay, screw it in then make sure the ide cables are connected properly, one cable from the hard driveto the ide port for master. then boot up the system get into the bios or system setup and look for ide auto detection and choose that if the hard drive is setup properly it will detect it and it will be installed, but you will then have to use the winnt boot disk and format the drive for win nt use, basically making the file system ntfs or ntfilesystem. good luck

Just a small tidbit of an idea. You don't have to format the new harddrive to ntfs. You can just as easily go with FAT or FAT32, NT does not have a problem reading these partition formats. But since You're trying to install a 4.3 Gb hdd you dont want to make it FAT16 so I'd recommend FAT32 if you don't want to go with NTFS. Good luck
