Adding a Mailbox In Outlook

By ntrimmer ·
When I click tools, services, properties of ms exchange server, advanced tab, add it gives me an error. "The name could not be resolved the action could not be complete." All I want to do is add an additional mailbox. I have a screenshot, if you want it, give me an email address to send it to.

Are you using an Exchange Server?

I think what you want to do is go to

Start > Settings > Control Panel and choose Mail (or Mail and Fax, whatever is appropriate). Then create a new profile and connect it to the appropriate mailbox on the mailserver.

In a given profile, you can only have 1 Exchange mailbox account. You can have any number of Internet email accounts.

I made it work on 3 other computers.

I think I see what the problem is. To get it to recognize the mailbox, you have to enter the Mailbox ALIAS name (case-sensitive). To expand the mailbox, of course, you need to have permissions to it.

You can see the ALIAS for the mailbox by goinginto the GAL and looking at its properties.

Hope this helps. I'm sorry, but I misunderstood your question at first.....

Generally that means that it can't resolve YOUR address. In the Control Panel, open the Mail icon. On the tab with your current account name, delete the name and put it in again and hit the Resolve button. Once it resolves, click OK and close the Control Panel. Now try it again and see if that solves the issue..

If you're using an Exchange server this means that either 1)the mail server cannot be contacted
2) the name does not exist on the mail server

If you're not using an Exchange server, you need to configure outlook to use Internet email only.

I am trying to open an additional mailbox with an existing mailbox. I am able to open each of the mailboxes one at a time. I get the error when I click add, before I can put in the name of the mailbox.
