I have recently been handed the duty to integrate a new Server 2003 (R2 w/ SP2) server box into our existing Server 2003 (SP2 only) environment. The 2nd box (R2 box) is going to be purely for Exchange.
I am somewhat under the impression that it is something as simple as setting up the new R2 box as a domain controller, then getting Exchange up & functional by first installing active directory then Exchange, then either making a full exchange backup then restoring it to the new box, or migrating each & every mailbox over to the new box, then going to each persons Outlook (v 2007) and “pointing” it to the new server (e.g. in the exchange server area of the mail settings).
Am I thinking correctly? If not, what must I do to get this new box up & running properly for Exchange functions?
