Adding Icons to Taskbar

By capri ·
In Win98 I was able to drag/drop an icon from the desktop to the taskbar, but cannot do this now that I'm using WinXP. Is there a way to do this?

Quick Launch on XP works much the same way it does on W98.

I just dragged an Icon from my desktop to the Quick Launch section of the taskbar, and a new Icon was added to the Quick Launch list.

I am running the "Classic View" option for the Start Menu.

XP has a default setting that hides unused icons and groups similar icons on the taskbar. That may be what is causing your problem.

Make sure on Settings, Taskbar and Start Menu that the box to show Quick Launch is checked.

You may also need to drag the edge of the Quick Launch box to make it large enough to use.
