Adding Logo to URL box

Many a logos are appearing in the URL/Site location box atop web browser pages. I can not figure out how to do this. Can anyone help me figure this out. I'd like to add it to my website when it loads on a web browser.

The icon needs to be called favicon.ico and put into the root web directory.

It's just an .ico file anyone can create, that you reference on your webpages for when people add that page to their browser favorites. You have to reference it on the webpage like this:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://mysite.com/images/MyIconFile.ico">

Then when people add that to their favorites, it will recognize the icon file you are referencing.
