By williamoshea ·
Dear Colleagues,
My employer has just bought 5 Mac client(i think tiger/panther). I have been asked to make it possible for users to log on throgh these clients and have access to the windows network. I am running windows active directory on windows 2003 standard edition servers.
I have searched the net for information on how to do this but no help.
Please help as time is running out for me.
thanks

Use the Directory Utility to add Mac clients to Active Directory. See post elsewhere on this.

There is more info from the MacOS X Server manuals avail. as PDF from Apple website.

I am running Win2003 Enterprise and most of my clients are
Macs.
The two options I've used are Samba from the Mac side and File
Services for Mac from the Server side.
Samba is fast but looses some of the file conventions needed by
the Mac OS ie. Fonts copied to the server cannot be opened with
FontBook.
File Services for Mac is slower and has file namlength limitations,
however it maintains the file conventions required by the Macs.
Hope its not too late.
