By wbutler188 ·
heres what i need to accomplish in exchange 5.5: i have a pop 3 act that points to my exchange server at eg. abc.com. we have just aquired 2 companies that have web sits eg. efg.com and xyz.com. on the web side, i know that the dns server have to be updated to point to an exchanger server and there is an online form to do this. here is the question or prolbem... i have abc.com set up on my exchanger server. how do i get efg.com and xyz.com on set up on same exchange server, and have my clients joe **** get and send and recieve emails as 3 different email address? eg joblow@abc.com, joblow@efg.com and joblow@xyz.com? can this all be set up on teh same email server? can this even be done?

ok, good one. There a couple of questions, so I will answer one at a time.

In exchange admin, go to the Internet Mail Connector, select the routing tab, click the add button. The domain names efg.com and xyz.com should be added as inbound. Doing so will have your exchange server accept mail for those domains and send them to local users.

In the property of the mailbox there is a tab called "email addresses." You can add as many email addresses as you want for this user. Examples include joeblow@abc.com, joeblow@efg.com, joeblow@xyz.com. And he will recieve at all there addresses, considering you do what was asked in the first question.

In this tab, there is a button "set as reply address" The address that is in bold is the address the user will actually send from if theyuse Outlook for Exchange.

If you want the user to send via all 3 names, I guess you would use internet mail on outlook express and setup 3 different Internet mail accounts, pointing to the same exchange mailbox. But each one will have a different sender email address. Doing so will give the user the pull down option to select joeblow@abc.com, joeblow@efg.com, joeblow@xyz.com. Also make sure all mail is pulled off the server, or they will get triple messeges. But, just to let you know, I would not use outlook express.

I hope I was clear.
