I am trying to fix a friend’s laptop. The computer is running xp pro. The computer has sever trojan horses. I managed to delete mabey two and to my knoledge stop them from running on start. I then tried to install avg free to scan and it would not allow me to in regular mode because it said i didn’t have admin privileges. I then booted in safe mode into the admin account and attempted to give the only user admin privileges; however, the admin account did not have admin privileges either. The only programs in msconfig that run on start are the three windows .exe, a dell.exe, and avg free spyware. I don’t know if there is possibly another trojan or if the trojan messed up the admin privileges. I have not yet tried to delete the trojan’s manually. The windows says the windows shell.exe is missing everytime it starts aswell. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this i would greatly appreciate it.
