Administrate W2K AD from XP Pro?

By MarkLongfellow ·
I am trying to administrate my W2K Active Directory domain from my XP machine to eliminate a step in which I have to use a terminal session right now. I have found two articles in TechNet concerning using the .NET Server Admin Tools (now RC1 from MSwebsite and the only one that will run on XP SP1) which has filename adminpak.exe and unzips to rc1-web-adminpak.msi. However, a problem arises in my situation. I have not upgraded my W2K DC's to SP3 yet, so the LDAP signing which is trying to occurin certain AD Admin tools (specifically AD Users & Computers, but others are also affected) will not allow the tools to function. The workaround is to set a registry entry HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AdminDebug\ADsOpenObjectFlags to 0x03, but after installing the adminpak, I do not have that entry (nor was it there to begin with), I do not even have an AdminDebug key, much less the subkey. I have found that MS allows keys to be written in, but this does not seem to work for me. Anyone have any idea what type of value to assign the ADsOpenObjectFlags key in order to get it to 0x03? The TechNet articles involved are Q304718 and Q325465 for further info.

Administrate W2K AD from XP Pro?

Okay, the hex shown by Leonard worked. I went in and created the AdminDebug key under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion and then created the subkey ADsOpenObjectFlags with a Reg_Dword value of hexadecimal 3 and all is working fine. Thanks!
