ADO vs DAO

By jon.russell1 ·
Can anybody speak to the pros and cons of ADO vs DAO? I've been using DAO for several years and am trying to convert to ADO/ADOX. I keep running into problems using ADO and am wondering if the move is worth the trouble. Are there significant advantages to using ADO that I am not seeing? If I don't find any convincing arguments, I'm going to move back to DAO ... it's not the fastest, but it seems more stable and easier to work with. My primary development environment is Access XP and I write lots of VBA code.

ADO vs DAO

Under most conditions, DAO is 1.5 to 3 times faster than ADO. Of course, MS is done with DAO, so ADO is the future. For now, stay with DAO. Maybe play with ADO so that you get familar with it.

I think you may be right ... ADO is presenting more problems than forward compatibility is worth (in this project anyway).
