Adobe,the newest purveyor of spyware?

By pgm554 ·
I have noticed that with the newest updates of Adobe Reader (7.x) that they are now sneaking things into the mix like a Yahoo toolbar on browsers.

And now this morning I get an update from a company called Viewpoint that sneaks in a search toolbar under the guise of a legit update.

Viewpoint gets installed automatically whenever you install Adobe Reader and you have no choice in the matter.

So the question that I am posing is:

Is Adobe another r@t b@st@rd company sneaking in spyware that we neither want nor need?

Opt out

You have the option of opting out of the Yahoo Adobe tool bar when you download Acrobat Reader from Adobe.

As far as I know, I do not have viewpoint on my system with Acrobat Reader 7 installed.

One good way to deal with add-on software packages is to run your system firewall in a tightly controller fashion.

Allow NO software to access the Internet without your permission.

From what I can see,it was part of the Adobe download that included Atmosphere.
Adobe has poured some money into Viewpoint over the years.
