The problem I have is some websites are V. Slow to download (to the point they timeout – e.g. microsoft) and some seem fine. It is also very difficult to sign into IM although occasionally it does work.
I have a newish sony pcg-z1 laptop (with an intel wireless adapter built in) I have a linksys wap11 running in bridge mode connected to a netgear 10/100 switch. I connect the laptop to the linksys and use a couple of desktops that are hardwired. One of the desktops has internet connection sharing with a adsl usb modem (which all machines use). Both the hard wired PC’s have no problems accessing internet at the appropriate speed. The problem therefore lies with the wireless bit. (the laptop is also fine when hardwired into the normal hub)
Any ideas would be appreciated. I have tried: different channels, disabling the wrz service, not using wep, and only allowing my mac address. Also turning off the ‘allow windows to manage my wirless thingamajobbit’ doesn’t do anything significant, if i do a tracert to microsoft it frequently times out. but if i do it on one of the hardwired pcs its fine.
Help? please,…
