I?ve never had one before at any level. I was contacted by HR personnel whom I sent my resume for the job openings. This HR person told me this job requires DoD top security clearance and also told me they would sponsor for the right candidates, which the process could take 2-3 years. Now, my question is What are the advantages of having the clearance? Do you get an instant salary increase? I remember shortly after 9-11 the guys who left the company with the clearance had a big salary increase but that was 6 years ago. Are they in such a great demand still? I live and work near Wash DC. I have been a software developer for 10 plus years and my current salary is in mid 90k. Do you think I would be better off with the clearance? I don?t know enough to decide whether I should pursue with this company.
