Advertisors ISP Automaticallt Dialing

By jlcorder ·
Upon when Windows Boots up it automatically dials the ISP. I have checked any startup and nothing happens to be in there. I have read about a fix before for the programs that install this feature in the Registry to to automatically dial and reportback to advertisors. They said that there is a fix in the Registry, but I can't seem to be able to locate the information now. Can anyone help.

HKEYLocalMachine\software\Microsoft\currentversion\run

If it's win2k or win NT look there.

If its 98, Millenium, or XP click Start>Run and type "msconfig" without the quotes. Click the start up tab. It's probably in there

Becarefull though, one wrong move and your computer may not like you anymore, if you know what I mean

Hi,

At a guess, I'd say you run Microsoft's MSN and you've set the dial properties to be automatically dial when needed.

MSN "logs in" when it starts up and that "log in" request will cause your PC to dial the internet. If its not MSN, then its probably another piece of software that you run that wants something off the net right away on startup.

Its possible that you have some adware on your PC that is initiating this too. Try...

For an Ad-ware removal program.

You probably simply need to look at the properties on the dial-up connection and change it to be to confirm before dialing.

And also make sure you have virus protection of some sort.

Cheers,
Tim.
